Before founding ESA Partners in 2011, Michel Roche was active in the financial world as well as in consulting. He held positions with renowned establishments in Switzerland like Mirabaud & Cie, Private Bankers, where he acted since 1999 as strategic external consultant, and then internally as HR Director, head of Organisation & IT and member of the Management Committee. Starting as a small bank of less than 150 people in 1999, Mirabaud became 10 years later an international group present in 10 countries with more than 600 employees.

In the 90’s Michel managed the Swiss banking sector of one of the world’s leading consulting firms, Ernst & Young Consulting, for several years. He also worked as Head of Financial Product & Services within a joint-venture of BNP Paribas in Switzerland, and was one of the two founders of a venture that created the first internet site dedicated to the French Stock Market.

Michel holds a Ph.D. of the University of Geneva. His background is in economics, mathematics and game theory, completed by various studies in psychology, NLP (Certified INLPTA Practitioner) and Transactional Analysis.

Michel gives lectures on Human Resources, Business Modelling and Strategy at the University of Geneva (HEC) and the Haute Ecole de Gestion (HEG). He is a member of several professional groups and advisory boards, e.g. Observatoire des Ventes et de Stratégie du Marketing (OVSM) and the Finance Summit Conference. He also acts as an independent Board Member.

He is a Swiss citizen and speaks French, English and German.
